Sorry for the late note, but takes awhile for Cazenovia news to reach DC. Mr. Gregg, as he will always be remembered by me, was a favorite teacher of mine. His US government lectures, always laced with realism and humor, stuck with me through a career covering and then working in state governments and politics. I can still hear his voice today in my head, and feel his encouragement. I'm so sorry he's gone, but the push he gave me in high school 47 years ago is still propelling me along.

I have so many memories of Mr. Gregg. Diane was my childhood best friend. I spent a lot of time at the Gregg’s house. Having lost my dad at such an early age Mr. Gregg was a constant male presence in my live. He always had a way of making me feel special. One funny memory that still to this day makes me think of Mr Gregg has to do with eating a sandwich. I vividly remember Mr Gregg sitting at their kitchen counter on Deane Lane with the Terrell’s potato chip can on the counter eating his chips along with a bologna sandwich. I stuff potato chips into my sandwiches to this day. Another memory is “sitting” in the Gregg’s family car (the Duster) and Diane and I thinking we could back it up just a little. No one would know. However when Diane put it in drive to return it to the same spot we went a little too fast and screeched to a halt narrowly missing the line of trees at the end of Deane Lane. I can still see Mr Gregg, hands on hips standing on the front porch. And last one- playing ding dong the witch is dead in the pile of leaves. What a genius idea Mr Gregg had to have all us kids come play this great game which could only happen after all the leaves were raked in the lower yard. Such fun. Hugs to the entire Gregg family. Love you all and wish I could be there to give you all a hug. Xoxo Lisa

I had the pleasure of having Bob Gregg for a teacher… I thought he was the coolest teacher because he was young and had a great laugh. He was a down to earth teacher and always remained one of my favorite teachers of all time. I was not fortunate enough to have made it thru the year without him hauling my a** out of class into the hallway for goofing off and talking.. He managed to bring me to tears and I NEVER did that again in his class!!! And I looked forward to seeing him until I graduated in 1978… After graduation, I never missed and opportunity to chat with Bob whenever I saw him…
THEN… I felt I was the luckiest person when I became the only person in the entire world to be able to call him Uncle Bob outside the family…I was so happy…. I WAS NOW RELATED TO HIM IN 1993…Yes it was true…..I got married to his nephew Ed Marion…. Wow!!! now I got to see him at family events and talk to him every chance I got… I have many great memories of Holidays with him and his family… By the way, he always got the biggest plate of Christmas cookies from me every year … it was our little secret/joke not to tell anyone else that got cookies from me!!!
He will be truly missed by Ed and I and we will always have times where we will talk about memories of him and how much we enjoyed being around him. And of course, we will raise a glass to celebrate his life. Hugs and Kisses to him and the family as we all try to move on from his loss….

I was very fortunate that my teaching career started in Cazenovia 97’ and Bob was assigned my mentor. He and a few others “raised me” to be the confident, financially sound, intelligent educator that I am today. He taught me to laugh off the bad days and create good ones for my students. And he made sure I had a blast at the Christmas gatherings :). To this day, I try to help new teachers in the same way and share his advice that he gave me. And stir up just a bit of craziness for fun.

Heartfelt condolences to the family. He was definitely a favorite teacher of mine! Much sarcasm and teasing, but it was all amusing. All joking aside, he taught me lessons that lasted a lifetime ❤️

I had Mr. Gregg for two years as my history teacher at a time when I was having a lot of ups and downs. Most of the adults in my life, like me, probably over-reacted to each up and each down. Mr. Gregg just treated me the same throughout with a wry laugh, and more importantly trust. He stayed the course with me and helped me get through. I am very thankful for that.
Years later I was giving a tour of Caz to educators from Iraq, Morocco, and Egypt who were studying at the Maxwell School out at SU as favor to a friend in the Foreign Service. I took them to the village court room to see the pictures of all the Caz mayors. Working our way through we got to Mr. Gregg’s picture where I mentioned he was my history teacher. That idea of teacher and mayor really caught their interest and we spent a lot of the rest of the day talking about it.

I was fortunate to have Mr. Gregg for 9th grade social studies and AP History in the mid/late 90’s. All of us have “that teacher”…the one whose class we couldn’t wait to get to every day because he was so fun, witty, inspiring and unwaveringly passionate about helping his students thrive. He was mine. And countless other Caz graduates’, too. So many positive and hilarious memories from his classroom that still put a huge smile on my face 25+ years later. Mr. Gregg, I know heaven was blasting Don Ho for you when you arrived. You were and are loved. I pray comfort and peace for his family and many friends.

I had Bob as my teacher for one year and I made honor roll because of him and his method of caring. Next year he’d catch me in the hall, put his hand on my shoulder and ask me how I was. Bob cared about us, all of us, and he knew how to let us know that.
