Obituary of Joseph L. Naselli
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph L. Naselli, 90, of Jupiter, Florida died on Friday January 13, 2023 after a short illness surrounded by family. Joe was born in Syracuse, NY to Mary Lapi and Dr. Joseph B. Naselli. He grew up on the Northside of Syracuse and attended Christian Brothers Academy. Joe served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1953 where he was assigned to a division of the US Army Security Agency stationed in Alaska. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1963.
For those that knew Joe, you would know that if he were to write his own obituary it would be much more colorful than this will ever be. Joe loved people and was always in the center of social activity. His sense of humor was what made him so unique and loveable. Joe and his wife Suzanne traveled extensively on their sailing vessel and to the home that they built in Ajijic, Mexico near Lake Chapala. Together they wrote, published, and sold several guidebooks of their travels. He also enjoyed piloting his Cessna airplane. Joe became a Captain after getting his license for piloting 500-ton Ocean going ships. Joe was involved in many business ventures over the years both in the Syracuse area and Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Suzanne Lee Harris Cookson Naselli; his daughter, Paula (Rick) Haskins of Tully, NY; stepsons Ken (Kelly) Cookson of Rhode Island and Michael Cookson of Syracuse, NY along with several in-Laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joe was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, Bernard and Richard.
Finally, Joe would remind you of the following poem: Friendship is a priceless gift that cannot be bought or sold: For to have an understanding friend is worth far more than gold. Go find your gold today.
