Jayne Novak posted a condolence

My name is Jayne Van Valkenburg Novak. Kay was in my kindergarten and first grade class before we moved to Verona, NY. My father, James F. Van Valkenburg, was a history and English teacher at the high school. I came to Mrs. Davis's calling hours in 2020 but was unable to attend calling hours for Mr. Davis. Marcia Helbig and Julia Stritter where at the school district, family friends and have past away so my connection to Cazenovia is becoming smaller. So many good times growing up there. I extend my condolences to the family.

Rick and Tami- your father (Mr. Les Davis) was able to make me understand math like no other math teacher could. He was a superb teacher with a great sense of humor and liked his students. He in part influenced me to become a teacher. He also was my JV baseball coach in 1967. We had a lousy season (no fault of his) but he was fair and played everyone. He liked Merill Bailey paintings and gave me a stack of reproduction Christmas cards Mr. Bailey had painted and I will always treasure them. He was a good man through and through and I join you in grieving that he is no longer with us. Give my regards to Alison and Ben too.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Looks like he lived a great life. I had him for 9th grade math and he had a heck of an arm to wake a dozing student with an eraser from the front of the room! That always impressed me! I wish that could still be done today. RIP Mr Davis
