Obituary of James W. Ayers, Jr.

James William “Jimbo” Ayers, Jr., 76, of Delphi Falls, passed away Friday, August 2, 2024 at Iroquois Nursing Home. He was born February 24, 1948 in Syracuse to James William Ayers, Sr. and Theresa Wilson Ayers and was a graduate of Cazenovia High School. Jim was a Vietnam War Veteran and served with the U.S. Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart. He received his Associate degree in Electricity from S.U.N.Y. Morrisville and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 43 in Syracuse. Jim was employed as an Electrician with Crouse Hinds. He was an avid bowhunter. James will be greatly missed by his family and friends. James is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane Louise Ayers; his daughter, Megan (Jose Miranda) Ayers of Jersey City, NJ; his son, Chad (Emily Goldman) Ayers and their children, Julian and Sammy of Boston, MA; his brother, Christopher Ayers of Cazenovia; seven nieces and seven nephews. In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Bastian; his brothers, Thomas and Bruce Ayers. Calling hours are 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road in Cazenovia. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services with burial and military honors to follow at the Delphi Cemetery in Delphi Falls. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 beginning at 12 p.m. at the Delphi Falls Fire Department.
