Dear Marilyn, Lonnie, Joe, Brian and Kim,
I'm so terribly sorry to hear about Joe. I remember the times he would stop by Dad's house. And he had some pretty interesting stories to tell. It was always great to see him.

I joined the Caz American Legion in 2014 & was always impressed by Joe's upstanding character. He had an exhaustive knowledge of all things pertaining to the American Legion. He was a great 'advisor' to other commanders passing along needed information in the moment. Before I started my term as Service Officer for the Legion, he brought me to the Veteran's Service Agency in Wampsville & introduced me to the Agency Service Officer so that I would know who to direct questions to, etc. as I became a Service Officer. Thanks, Joe. Your down to earth attitude & vast knowledge are & will be greatly missed at our monthly meetings. I know the Lord has greeted you with a 'Well done my faithful servant" when you entered heaven.
(The picture included here is of Joe right before the 2023 Memorial Day Parade in Cazenovia.)

My sincere condolences go to Marilyn and her family. I remember many years ago when my ex-husband and I going to McDonalds in the early morning for coffee before Joe had to go to work.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Our condolences and prayers to the Barilla family. We are so sorry to hear of Joe. He was a great friend and person, I know he will be missed. I can’t tell you how many parades we marched in together. Someone you could always see around town working on something. Godspeed brother.

Joseph, Well I had to leave a note. I know for a fact that you are safe in Gods hands. No more pain or problems. I just wonder who will be able to follow you in The American Legion now. You will be a hard act to follow my friend. I , for one, will miss you greatly. Over the years we became close, very close. I will never forget when you became Post 88 American Legion Commander. I was your Adjutant for all your time as Commander. You and I were a team. I put a lot of time in with you and was very proud of all you did and all you wanted to do. I wonder if I will be able to follow you in years to come. Will you put a good word in for me? I respected you and STILL do. I will miss our coffee at Burger King. We could just sit and chat about anything. Well time moves on and I know that you now have a place in gods kingdom. You are a good man and respected by many. I will miss you and will try to carry on your good work. It is now time for you to let someone else take over the watch. Time for you to relax. Take care once again friend. May the blessing of God be with you and the family.
