Our thoughts and prayers are with the Trush family. Doug was family to us - like a son to our father and like a brother to us. Since Doug could not visit our father at the Oxford Veterans' Home, he sent numerous cards with handwritten notes reflecting his love for Dad. Doug left us much too soon and he will be greatly missed. We feel blessed to have been part of Doug's life and we will cherish our precious memories. Lennie, Debbie, Jerry Coleman and Mark Gracin

Juli & John- I am so saddened by the loss of your dad, he was such an amazing man and was loved by so many. When I was younger and talked about moving away from NY he always said "why, it's beautiful here and you actually get 4 real seasons!" I'll never forget it. The smell of his pipe smoke, the feeling of his hugs...he will be missed. I'm thinking of you both and send all my love. Jessica

Doug, you will be missed by all the guys and gals (families) of the Sheds Corner preserve. I have enjoyed many years with my son and daughters on the property since you guys purchased it. A couple years ago when my daughter's husband was in Iraq serving in the military, she shot her first buck and emailed the photo from her phone to the base in Iraq. All the guys bragged of what a great wife my son-in law had. It lifted his and my daughter's spirits during a difficult time. Family memories like these are many on the Sheds preserve (I know I have shared many with you). Thank you for helping us build those memories. I know you held many precious memories in the outdoors with your son and daughter. I hope they find comfort in thinking of those memories. I know my children will find comfort in many of the memories you helped us build in the outdoors. God Bless your family during this difficult time. To the family- I see you preferred donations rather than flowers. We did send flowers but will also make a monetary donation to the Children's Hospital.

John and Juli, While nothing can truly prepare you for the loss of a parent, may the knowledge that your Dad’s pain is no longer and he will be watching over you, bring you both comfort. Though your Dad was comfortable being a guardedly private person, his boyish grin or the mischievous gleam in his eye could lighten the mood in any room. He touched many lives and will be fondly remembered.

Your Dad was a wonderful man. We shared a unique bond in our love of the outdoors. I first met him when he purchased the property I grew up hunting on (Sheds Preserve). He interviewed me in the board room of Trush Industries. He showed me his trophy photo on the cover of an outdoor magazine. What I expected to be a 10 minute interview turned into 2 hours of sharing outdoor stories. I have enjoyed similar times at the house over a stiff drink. A forever memory of mine - (I think of it every year while hunting) is of Your Dad and Peter Mitchell mowing the trails while I was in a stand hunting. A heavy rainstorm blew through and they stopped briefly (probably huddled under a tree waiting for it to pass). When it passed they started the machine back up and continued mowing. They scared the biggest buck I ever saw, right in front of me. After the rain stopped so, did the wind. It was dead quiet. As I slowly, moved my gun against my shoulder a slight noise from the stock brushing against my raincoat spooked the deer and in one huge leap he was gone. Shortly, after that the thickest fog settled in. Every year I replay this whole story in my mind thinking of your Dad and Peter. My memory of showing your Dad's character - A few years back when your Dad got gored by a buck in his pen; I said "Man Doug, that buck would probably, be in my freezer if he did that to me." Your Dad said "No, it was my fault. It is too close to the rut and he probably thought I was challenging him over the does. It was my fault I could't blame him." Your Dad loved the outdoors and sharing it with others. If there is a good hunting place in heaven he will be working on the property and sharing it with others who love the outdoors like him. I will miss him. My prayers are with you and the many others missing your Dad. May God provide with the grace you need during this time. God Bless, from my family to yours.
