I also met Don through my Aunt Willie. He was a wonderful man--full of laughter and grace. I always enjoyed his company, and he made our family's life better. He was family, and I will miss him. Janis Gibbs

Don and I became friends through my sister, Wilma Gilmore, and I immediately learned to love this kind and gentle man. He gave me strength when my husband died, laughs whenever we met, and the certainty that there are really good people in this world. I will miss him. Sheila Gibbs

to Don's family: i was the director of Volunteer Services at Crouse Hospital and so had the privilege of knowing Don for nearly a decade. I notice the photo you posted is of Don in his red volunteer jacket. He was a terrific man and an exemplary volunteer because he possessed two special qualities - leadership and service. I could count on Don for his wise perspective and especially during the time the volunteers were raising money for a Kienzle Family Maternity Center - a first for the hospital volunteers- Don quietly advised me and influenced his fellow volunteers to participate. The campaign was successful and Don was part of our small leadership group that toured the new center to see the plaque identifying our leadership gift. We reached our goal because he was determined we'd be successful. On the other hand he was a reliable and devoted Transport volunteer - on Thursdays if my memory serves me. No matter, he was there at his appointed time - unless CAVAC needed him. I admired him then and will continue to remember him fondly. Donna
