I was Mr. Lee's student for two chemistry classes at Binghamton High School just before he retired. He was an amazing teacher. I was thinking of him today and I looked up his name wondering if I could send him a note and tell him I'm a scientist now and thank him. So today I found his obituary. My condolences to the family.

I always remember grandpa fixing things. For instance, my mom, a single parent, has done her best to be the sole provider for her three children. However, there are tasks with which she has been burdened to deal with that she simply cannot complete. A few years back, she had an old apple tree in the far backyard that became infested with insects and rot. The tree was unsightly, and remained there, taunting us for years. I didn't have the equipment to complete the task myself, or I would have been out there. When grandpa found out about the tree, he shot over on an overcast day and I went out back to help him gather the wood as he cut the tree down, branch by branch. It began to storm heavily midway through the job and I just wanted to quit and go inside where it was warm and dry. I asked my grandpa to go inside with me, as I didn't want to leave him all alone, and he responded, "Ohhh come on! A little water isn't going to hurt us!" I grabbed him some coffee upon his request and reluctantly went back outside to help him finish the job. We did complete the job. That tree no longer sits there taunting us. If it weren't for my grandfather's determination I am confident that tree would still be there today. I am glad I stayed to finish the job, it is a memory I will always keep. From his example, I have learned how important it is to have a good work ethic. He used to buy me tools for Christmas, before I knew how to use them. This man was a work horse, solid and unfaltering. I never actually thought he would die, he seemed invincible at times. He may not have been perfect, but he left a legacy of good within his family. He was a staple within our already small family, and he will be missed dearly.

I am saddened to learn of Paul's passing. He was a good person inside and out always willing to go the extra mile for a cause or person he believed in. A genuine soul with a huge heart. I knew Paul through the NRA classes at the range. I enjoyed his company and wealth of knowledge. He always had a kind delivery of information and a warm smile. His enthusiasm of the sport inspired me. He loved his trips to Ireland and I was blessed to see the pictures and listen to some of his adventures. Hats off to you Paul and many warm embraces to your family in this difficult time. I will always remember you with fond memories.

Dad was an extremely devoted grandpa who loved all 5 of his grandchildren a great deal. He did his best to go to as many concerts, plays, sporting events, parties, parades and anything else they were involved in that he possibly could. Always with his camera around his neck and taking as many pictures as possible. He would print them at home and make sure everyone involved got the pictures that would mean the most to them. I remember once when Anthony was performing at the ice cream social at Waterville school and grandpa didn't hesitate to stand up for him. Anthony was singing and playing piano and as the social was winding down the music teacher started moving equipment and unplugging the microphone, etc. Dad marched right up to him and said, "hey, hey what do you think you're doing? That's my grandson and he's not finished!." I thought he was going to punch the guy. So fierce was his loyalty to all his grandchildren. A man that was good to have in your corner. We'll miss you dad. Love, Sonia
