Dear Jay, I don't know if you remember me. We went to school together. I send my heartfelt condolences to you and your family. I lost both of my parents in the past few years. I remember several years ago reading about you in the newspaper. You were heralded, rightly so, as a hero for rescuing your siblings from your burning house. After reading your father's obituary, I know where your integrity and courage come from. He was quite a man. I can see you take after him. My mother passed at Francis House. It is my most beloved charity. I don't need much of a reason to donate, so I will be making a contribution in your father's name. Don't mourn your father's death. Celebrate his life. He had quite a life. Fondly, Dr. Joan Laura

To the entire Wason family, the McCormicks send our best wishes. A great man who we all knew since our early childhood days of cutting down Xmas trees every year on his farm. Lots of memories of him and our dad R.B. McCormick for sure. Glad I was lucky enough to see him a few weeks ago at OGCC when I was there for dinner. He will be missed.

A heart felt sympathy for the Wason clan. I'll fondly remember and appreciate being one of Jay and Martha's guests for all those Letterwinner's award dinners as well as tailgating on the quad, before Orange football games. You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I have nothing but great memories of Uncle Jay and the whole Wason family. Summers spent together at the camps were priceless to me. Uncle Jay rolling up in his big car and jamming to Bad Bad Leroy Brown. How we used to love going over to the Wason's house, and announcing for all to hear that"were here, were here"!!! Knowing that all would be just as excited to see us as we were to see them. Uncle Jay was a great man, and all of us from my family will miss him. Edward "BIG ED" Dolan.

The Wason Family, I am saddened to hear of the passing of Jay. Througout my days as an employee of the Syracuse University football program I was honored to interact with Jay in his enthusiastic support of the football program. I will always remember the special annual party at Jay's house that we all enjoyed so much for his family's hospitality. I had the pleasure to run into Jay about a year ago and he was so kind to remember me, inquire of my where abouts, and briefly reminisce of the good old days. I respectfully extend my sincerest sympathy to all of Jay's family. He truly was a delightful gentleman. May he rest in God's peace. Bob Casullo

Wason Family, Please accept my heartfelt condolences and continued prayers for all of you over the loss of your wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. I feel so very fortunate to have crossed paths with Jay Wason over the last couple of months. Charlie has shared so many wonderful stories about his dad....I thought perhaps he was fibbing just a bit. After reading Jay's obituary and all the wonderful condolence messages here it is evident that Jay was a very special man who was loved deeply by so many! Such a force as Jay Wason will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone he touched. I look forward to hearing all the stories to come! Love, Moira

Martha and family, I am deeply saddened by the loss of Jay. When I was a young Lawyer at the Hancock office, Jay was one of a large group of local lawyers who set the standard for Litigators. Jay could handle any case, including trying it to a verdict, with dignity, integrity and all the while showing respect for every person in the courtroom. He would fight for his client and win or lose, step across the courtroom to shake hands with opposing counsel. I will miss him, and more importantly the profession will miss him, as a shining example of how to be a litigator with honor, civility and compassion. You have my very deepest sympathies.

Martha: I'm glad I ran into you two coming from the movies and that I recognized Jay. A nice man is telling stories with other angels in heaven. The quote with Jay and Tom Quinlan where Jay said the salaries in the early days "Wouldn't cover My Bar bill" will stay with me always. Marty

We were deeply saddened to hear of Uncle Jay's passing. We will always remember his meticulous placement of his many figurines and his ability to replace them in their respective positions after jokingly moving them around without his knowledge, boat rides on the USS Beaver, fun times at the S.U. Games and too many more memories to recall in a moments notice. We will miss you Uncle Jay. We are keeping Aunt Martha and the rest of the Wason clan in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.

There is so very much I wish to say and so many fun stories to tell. I promise to do some of that, but at another time. For now suffice that my love for the entire Wason clan remains deep and pure. I truly admired and loved your father. He lived a life that most could view with envy, but anyone who he met him likely wouldn’t. He encouraged me by his illustration of enjoying life and having fun. He made it fun for me and as a result, my life is better for having known him. I pray for all of you during this difficult period to accept his passing with the grace and love that you have always shown me. With only love, Jurgy
