Obituary of Anthony Leone

Anthony G. Leone, 82, of Cazenovia, went home to be with the Lord on April 24th with his loving family by his side. He had been a resident at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville for the past year. Born in Syracuse on July 25, 1932, he was the son of Salvatore and Filippa Leone. He was a graduate of Cazenovia H.S. and a Korean War Veteran. Tony married the former Shirley M. Pangborn in May 1955 and spent 49 happy years together in Cazenovia before her death in 2004. He was a communicant of St. James Church and worked at Carrier Corporation for 37 years, retiring in 1993. Later in retirement, he volunteered for the Madison County SNACK (Senior Nutrition & County Kitchen) Program. He was loved by all who had the privilege to know him and provided friendship and support to many. Tony was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Shirley Leone, and his brother, Gaetano Leone of Manlius. He is survived by his children, Christine of Chittenango, James (Lynn) of Parish, Thomas (Linda) of Cazenovia, Anthony (Margaret) of Whitesboro, Maria (Jeffrey) DeGroat and Julie (Richard) Hackney, both of Cazenovia. He had 5 grandchildren; Brian Leone of Los Angeles, California, Derek DeGroat of Cazenovia, Nicholas & Allison Leone of Whitesboro and Jalena Hackney of Cazenovia. Also surviving a sister-in-law, Judith Pangborn of Solvay, Brother-in-law, Robert (Brenda) Pangborn of Endicott and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 27th, 11:00 am, at St. James Church in Cazenovia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James Church or the Alzheimer's Assoc.
