Obituary of Eugene Gucwa

Eugene "Gene" Francis Gucwa, Jr., 71, of Erieville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday. He was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1964 and the University of Massachusetts in 1968. Gene was a professional engineer at U.T.C. (Carrier) for 36 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of St. James Church, the Eaton Brook Lake Association and enjoyed photography. Gene was an avid birdwatcher and participated in the Cornell Ornithology Census. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Sophie Gucwa. Mr. Gucwa is survived by his wife of 49 years, Susan Gucwa; two daughters, Stacia (Mark) Nourse and Jennifer (Michael) Whalen all of Erieville; grandchildren, Christopher Nourse, Lindsey Nourse, Brenden Whalen and Mikaylee Whalen; stepmother, Edna Gucwa of Plainville, MA.; two brothers, Leonard (Alice) Gucwa of Marietta, GA, and Leslie (Joannie) Gucwa of Newbury, NH; a sister, Cheryl (Ed) Sandland of North Attleboro, MA; brother-in-law, John (Linda) Adams of Osterville, MA; two sisters-in-law, Nancy (Ed) Houtkooper of San Francisco and Janice (Michael) Lambrecht of Thornton, NH as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia. Burial will be in Erieville Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours are 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 22nd at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia.
