Dear Jim and family,
I met Dani in the early 80's and she influenced my life in such a positive direction. She was such a bright light - always extending herself to others to make their lives so much better. A person like Dani only comes around once or twice in a person's lifetime - I'm so glad that she was a part of mine for a period of time. Her spirit will continue to shine in everyone that she touched throughout her life. I am sorry that I missed the Memorial Service. My love to all.

I am an RN Coordinator at St. Joseph's Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. Dani is probably the main reason I am in a career that I have enjoyed for a number of years. In 1987 when Dani was starting as the Aerobic Director at Sundown (now Gold's Gym), I had just started teaching aerobic dance there in addition to my job as a Cardiac ICU RN at Crouse. We attended a week-long workshop at the Dewitt Sundown taught by Dani so that we could achieve local certification in April of that year; I have never enjoyed an educational opportunity more in my life! Many of the principles of kinesiology that Dani put forward I still remember and use to this day. She also started the NIA classes that I remember enjoying greatly.
As a result of my new-found love of exercise science inspired by Dani, I was offered a job in cardiac rehabilitation at St. Camillus and have been in this field ever since. I also continued to teach at Sundown/Gold's Gym for 19 years and achieved national certification as a personal trainer through ACE. Dani was just so encouraging and personable! Since that time I have encountered many people whose lives were touched and influenced by Dani.
What a tragedy that a woman whose whole life experience involved the mind/body connection and the use of movement for health would be affected by a disease that would rob her of the very movement that she inspired! Please know that Dani will never be forgotten; her spirit will truly live on.

Dear Jim and joined families,
I will remember Dani/Mom as full of life and energy and with a winning smile. Always friendly to me. I will never forget her 50th birthday at Caz College--dance, dance, dance.
Thinking of you all, although I haven't seen some of you in decades.

So sorry to hear of Dani's passing. She was my original yoga and NIA teacher and I will treasure the time I spent with her - three hours on Wednesday nights while I was in law school - pure bliss. Her classes were truly a joy. She left many wonderful meories and the gifts she gave us will live on.

My sincerest condolences to your family. I have known Dani and Jim dating back to the early seventies when we were all very active in social justice issues. I lost track of them after they moved to the farm until about 10 years ago when I moved to the Town of Nelson. As as election inspector I would see her when she came in to vote. It was so nice to have the opportunity to get reacquainted and to catch up on the 40 plus years that have passed. I will always remember her for her gentle nature and her constant bright smile that could light up the whole room.

I met Dani at her Cazenovia Studio while training for my NIA White Belt. The hours spent in close proximity, gave me insight to her wisdom, kindness and peaceful manner. At the time, I was going through a difficult time, and her words and support helped tremendously. So sorry for your loss. But I am a better person for having known her.

Dani was my yoga instructor for many years, as she was for so many others. My mother from the Netherlands visited one time and we took a lesson at the farm studio together - just before my mother was diagnosed with ALS. This past fall, I communicated several times with Dani by email about my mother's life and death with ALS - Dani was keen to hear the perspectives of another ALS patient. It was meaningful for me to share vignettes of my mother's fate with Dani, she looked it right in the eye. May she rest in peace....

My Love is sent to all of you who have lost a wonderful companion, mother, friend, relative....she will always be that spirit that circulates in my life, even though her body is no longer here. May you be surrounded with support as you go through the transition of constantly missing her as a physical presence, and may you all be blessed by knowing that she is in a new life of freedom and grace and that she is still here with you in that newly released form. I loved her deeply, and she has made a difference in my life on so many levels.

I know she must have been a very special person. May God heal all of your hearts and may Dani dance in heaven with the angels.
