Tyree W.N. Tanner, 71, of Perryville, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon at home with his family by his side. He was born in Syracuse, a son to the late, William R. and Marguerite I. Tanner. Tyree graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School, attended Hudson Valley Community College and graduated from S.U.N.Y. Morrisville in 1976. Tyree served in the US Navy from 1962-1963. During his life he had several careers which included being a salesman with East Syracuse Chevy, an Inspector with the Carrier Corporation, a member of the Ironworkers Local 60, Syracuse. He also worked as a Lab Technician with the Oneida City Hospital and at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Tyree was an Oil and Gas salesman for Mohawk Valley Oil and retired from Sunoco in 2008. He was a member of the Beauchamp Chapter and Chenango Chapter of NYSAA. He enjoyed archeology, hunting, fishing, cooking and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Jean Tanner, who died in 2014; a brother, Damien Tanner; a sister, Genevieve McConnell and her husband, Jerry McConnell.
Tyree is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Tanner; two children, Maribeth M. (Donald Butler) Brown of Verona and Tyree M.W. Tanner of Chittenango; his siblings, Elizabeth Korzeniewski, William Tanner, Joyce Mandarino, Mary Niles, Martha Federer, Brian Tanner, Kevin Tanner, Patricia Provost and Marguerite Tanner; nine grandchildren;14 great grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Perryville Cemetery, Seibenbaum Rd., Canastota. Contributions in memory of Mr. Tanner may be made to the Chenango Chapter NYSAA, c/o Robert Mason, Treasurer, 5314 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815.
