Obituary of Vera Lange

Vera Ruckdeshel Lange, 107, of Manlius passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Crouse Community Center. She was born January 16, 1909 in Lewiston, Idaho, a daughter to the late Bert and Mary Bridger. Vera graduated from Washington School for the Deaf in Vancouver, Washington and from the Gallaudet College in Washington, D.C. in 1932. She was a home economics teacher and retired from the Rhode Island School for the Deaf. Vera was active with Aurora of CNY, Ephphatha Ministry to the Deaf and various deaf groups.
Vera was predeceased by her first husband, Fritz Ruckdeshel in 1974; her second husband, Rev. William M. Lange, Jr. in 2009; a step-great granddaughter, Tracy Saliba in 1988 and by four siblings.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Rev. Chiron (Diane) Morgan of Nampa, ID, Michelle (Clair Garmin) Morgan of Takoma Park, MD and Sharon Bridger of WA; two step-children, Willem (Ida) Lange of East Montpelier, VT and Diana (Rev. Gerald) Saliba of Morrisville; 5 step grandchildren; several step great and great, great grandchildren.
There are no calling hours. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 904 Vine St., Liverpool, NY. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Lange may be made to the Episcopal Diocese of CNY, and specify for the deaf ministry, 1020 Seventh North St., Suite 200, Liverpool, NY 13088 or to Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North St., Liverpool, NY 13088.
