Kenneth D. Collier, 65, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday evening surrounded by his family and close friends. He was born in Waverly, Tennessee, a son to William D. and Betty Jo Collier and was raised in Lorain, Ohio. Ken graduated from Clearview High School in 1969 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Ken attended Lorain County Community College and Tompkins Cortland Community College. Ken had been employed by the New York State D.O.T. in Syracuse where he was the Supervisor of Stores and Services. He enjoyed listening to music-especially Jackson Browne, playing softball and was an avid golfer.
Ken was predeceased by his father, William D. Collier, who died in 2007; a sister, Catherine Ann Collier, who died in 1953 and by a brother, Terry Collier, who died August 19, 2016 .
He is survived by his son, Benjamin (Sarah) Collier of Mint Hill, NC; his mother, Betty Jo Collier of Lorain, OH; a brother, Ricky Collier of Seville, OH; two sisters, Pat (Jeff) Dziak of Ashland, OH and Sharon Collier of Madison, TN as well as several nieces, nephews and close friends.
