Robert E. Wilkins posted a condolence
Friday, April 28, 2017
I am the son, 80, of Harold and Priscilla Wilkins. Our family lived at what is now 9 Rippleton Rd. from 1949 to 1960. I remember my parents being very fond of Mr. Ridings and his family, and remember well the sad day I learned of Peter's passing in an auto accident.
My deep sympathy to the survivors of this wonderful and talented family.

I already miss my daily email exchange of activities, upcoming events, etc with John. John was always so concerned with my safety due to the long distance driving I used to do to and from work late at night. The concern continued after I retired and relocated to Florida and my long drive from Fl to my friend's home( where I spend the Summer) in Canada, and, of course, the return drive back to Fl. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to visit with John when I traveled through NY .
Anne and Martha your father was such a kind, considerate and gentle man. Always a smile on his face. And how he enjoyed Contra Dancing(where I first met him 18 years ago). To have met John you have met a friend for life. I will miss him. My sincere condolences to you and your families.

Martha and family,
I was saddened to read of John's passing. He was always so kind and welcoming in all our encounters and I'll never forget that he sold me my very first car insurance policy and treated me with so much respect. My hope is that happy memories will help to ease the pain of your loss.
Fondest regards,
Brian (Pat) Loftus

To the family of John Ridings,
For many years I had my insurance with John. It was always so much enjoyment talking with John. He was very knowledgeable and thoughtful in his approach to my needs. We would talk about his father and the times when my mom was his secretary at Porter Cable and my brother-in-law who did work around the house for Mr. Ridings Senior.
Most of all, I always enjoyed John's wit and sense of humor! Thank you for fond memories. David, my best to you in your loss and to John's daughters, Anne and Martha whom I never had the pleasure to meet you, my deepest sympathies.
Yours truly,
Nader Maroun

I am saddened to learn of John's passing, although. he had spoken about the uncertainly he faced as to 'the day or the hour'.
I met Jane as a freshman in Potsdam .... therefore, when I moved to the Syracuse area we renewed our friendship which now included John. And my Jerry. I enjoyed my chats with your father which always included a share of his sense of humor.... later it was exchanged e-mails.
I will miss those forwarded snippets of wisdom.
