Mary M. Thomas, 73, of Cocoa Beach, Florida, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 3 p.m., the “Hour of Mercy”. She was born in Fulton, New York, the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Frawley and graduated from Fulton High School in 1962. Mary was a great wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many. She enjoyed watching golf and hearing about her grandchildren’s daily life, whether it was about school, sports or music. She always insisted on receiving pictures or videos of them. Mary enjoyed life and was one to never miss good times with family and friends. Before retiring, Mary managed the Leonard Sexton Memorial-V.F.W. Post #6590 in Wrightstown, N.J. and the American Legion Challenger 7 Post #348 in Cape Canaveral. She also worked at the V.F.W. Post #10131 in Cape Canaveral where she enjoyed organizing events for the veterans.
Mary is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jack Thomas; her children, Kathy (Dawn) Van Buren of Long Beach, NY, Kobie Van Buren of Cocoa Beach, Kim (Randy) Cotton of Fulton, NY and John L. Thomas III of Millstone, NJ; five grandchildren, William Van Buren, Cole, Rylie, Sam Cotton, Brandon Thomas and C.A.T.; as well as several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Edward and John Frawley.
Mary will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic person who always had a smile, a quick comeback and a contagious laugh. She had a quiet strength, never complained and was always optimistic. Mary loved and lived every moment that she was given, neither the hard times nor the pain would rob her of who she was. Mary was always graceful until God called her home.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held in the winter when her snowbird friends return to Cocoa Beach.
