Bob Thorp left this world on February 24, 2018 in the way he lived his life with dignity and respect surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 12, 1936, the youngest son to Willard and Erma (Southerden) Thorp, and was a resident of Cazenovia for 53 years. He attended Minoa High School where he met the love of his life, Beverly (Ferstler). Bob was a man of many talents and was eager to share his knowledge and talents with anyone. Bob was a skilled master trim carpenter who added elegance to many homes in the area. In addition, he was a renowned beekeeper in Central New York and enjoyed tending his bee hives and apple orchard. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm of the sport with many young people. He taught them how to stay safe while enjoying the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by three sisters, Loretta Sturick, Ruth Mothersell and Marion Delamater and three brothers, Nellis, George and Willard Thorp.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beverly; three daughters, Theresa (Don) Richardson of Chittenango, Cindy (Fred) Hirt of New Woodstock and Robin Woodworth of Chittenango; seven grandchildren, Kyle (Lisa) Hirt, Andrew (Nichole) Hirt, Mallory (Kyle) Polisse, Nichole (Bobby) Loope, Brett Richardson, Keith Woodworth, Jeffrey Woodworth and six great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by two sisters, Alice Hayes and Wilma Hayes; a sister-in-law, Midge Herrick; son-in-law, Leon Woodworth; numerous nieces and nephews and his extended family, Beth Ryan and Dick Kopp as well as his precious dog Buddy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. James Church, 6 Green St., Cazenovia. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 1 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia.
