I was a kindergarten classmate of Kay Davis. I was sorry to read of her passing and sorry to read of the passing of Charlie Davis. My father , James F. Van Valkenburg, was a History and English teacher at the high school when I was a little girl. Julia Stritter was a secretary at the high school at that time. I have wonderful memories of growing up in Cazenovia. My thoughts and prayers are with the Davis family.

Charlie and his children played a big role in Bryan's cattle showing. From helpful guidance to friendly competition, his life was touched in a special way. Later on, Charlie was a fixture in the beef tent at Empire Farm Days. We will miss his smile. Our prayers go out to his family. The Atwoods, Dave, Bryan and Heather.

Mr Davis was an icon and a true joy, inspiration and mentor. Not to mention a great shop teacher who first aquatinted us with “Murphy’s Law”. He lived it and i am personally grateful to have crossed paths with such a positive / awesome spirit.
Rest in Peace buddy! You will be missed.

I was saddened to hear of this news today. Such a great man that positively impacted many young students’ lives aside from my own. I have many fond memories of him teaching me how to run equipment that I probably had no business operating but he had a way of capturing your attention to ensure not only safety, but a neat finished product too. For sure he’s one of those teachers students will remember favorably when they think back on their years at Chittenango. Rest In peace Mr. Davis. You will be missed.

Charlies touched the life of anyone he met. He set a standard for the rest of us to aspire to. His energy and enthusiasm were infectious. As a cattle auction ringman, when he turned his hat sideways, someone was going to buy a cow.

Charlie came to us about a dozen years ago to help us to drive tractor in the fall for the many school children who came here. He quickly became indispensable. The kids called him “Uncle Charlie” and he just had a natural enthusiasm that he imparted on the kids. We loved him here helping to represent us. His cheerful exuberance was contagious. As time went on we became friends. We’ll miss you Charlie and we’ll never forget you.

Charlie called a local car dealer in Yankton, SD about looking at the green Studerbaker he wanted to buy. The parts person called me about. I went to the sellers house and took pictures of the Studerbaker and email the pictures and my thoughts of the cars condition.
A couple of years later, Facebook made a friend suggestion of Charlie Davis. I thought about this for a while and then asked him if he had bought a green Studerbaker from South Dakota. Been Facebook ever since. He is a good person and I will miss him.

I first met Charlie as a Freshman at SUNY Oswego in 1970. We were floor mates on the garden floor of Scales Hall. Charlie was one of the great friends I had in college. He always saw the best in people and treated everybody with friendship and respect.
I lost contact with him after we graduated, but never forgot him. Thanks to the invention of the internet, we found each other again on Facebook.
I will personally thank God for having Charlie as part of my life. I pray that Nancy will be all right.

My wife and I both remember Me. Davis very well from shop class. It was a joy to see him early in the morning when he would greet me as I was delivering his newspaper. The steak as a thank you gift was always appreciated and enjoyed. He was a good man who was firm in his beliefs and was always a pleasure to visit with. He will be missed by many.

I was in Jr High and High School with Charlie (Cazenovia). I remember his Dad was a Teacher and his Mom was a School Secty. Charlie always had a smile on his face and a pleasant temperament. I learned that he had ALS at our recent 50th Class Reunion, where he was dearly missed.
I’m sending sincere sympathy and prayers to his family and close friends, who were lucky enough to have been part of Charlie’s life.
