When reflecting on the life of Barbara Wheeler, one realizes what a wonderful role model she is for those of us who have had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara was a thoroughly genuine person who was bright, open minded, highly capable, and consistently thoughtful, as well as being a reliable friend, with the ability and commitment to help others in Cazenovia and elsewhere.
We are two of many who will miss her greatly.

Barbara was my 3rd grandmother! No visit home was complete without a stop at 5 Old Farms Lane. She wisely advised me on so many things in life - marriage, career, family, philanthropy and so much more! I think I loved her most for the way she carried on after Gordon's death. She forged a new path for herself and found a companion to share her remaining days with. She kept on traveling too! Te Caribbean, California, Florida...she made her mark. Viva Barbara! Your spirit lives on in all of us blessed to know and love you!

To the Wheler family
We were greatly saddened at the Madison County Childrens Camp, when we heard of the passing of your mom. Please accept our condolences. Your mom played such an important role in the formation of where the Camp is presently located and the Children’s Camp vision of a free camping experience for disadvantaged children. Please know that your mom‘s legacy will always be part of the Children’s Camp.

Barbara was President of the Cazenovia Board of Education when I was given a Sabbatical to Bogota, Colombia with my family. When we returned she hosted a dinner party at her home so we could share our Colombian experiences with the Board. Her kindness, grace and wisdom provided great guidance to the school system. I will always be grateful for her leadership and vision. My sincere condolences to her family.
