I am shocked and saddened to hear this news just now. Matthew was one of my closest friends in high school. We lost touch over the years but reconnected a little on Facebook. I remember hanging out at the loft and briefly meeting his fascinating parents. He and I also spent time organizing a tiny anti-nuke rally outside of Bronx Science. Matthew will be missed and my condolences and thoughts go out to his family.

I extend my most sincere condolences to all of the Friedman family on the passing of Matthew who I got to know in the trenches of Washiington Square Music Festival and related activities. What I will remember the most is his very dry since of humor. I know that Matthew is deeply missed and irreplaceable to all of you!! Many hugs to Yvonne, Peggy and Suzanne.
