Dear Valletta Family-I had the good fortune to be a camp counselor under the expert tutelage of "Mr. Valletta". I can remember distinctly that he was always advising counselors to live to a higher standard and coaching them to meet his expectations...and when you did, and you got a "good job" it was the best accolade you felt you ever got, ever. I remember him with fondness, he helped form the person I am today. I know it is hard to experience the passing of a family member and I do not say this lightly--he was a good one and we were all lucky to have known him. My condolences go to you all.

Elaine, Terry, Beth, Michael, Lisa, I just happened on this today, so I wanted to say that I was thinking of you all. I am looking at the steps of "your" house as I type, because I am the caretaker at Tioga Point. I am sorry for your loss.

Hi Autumn! I was telling the story of the time we went swimming without permission --at my father's funeral. Thank you so much for your kind words. Raquette Lake was one of the best parts of my life.My father "rescued" me then and was a wonderful Dad my whole life. Blessings, Beth

Dear Mrs. Valletta, Terry and the entire family,
I am sorry to hear about Mr. Valletta’s passing but also can’t stop thinking about what he’s seeing and hearing as he joins the cloud of witnesses in the presence of God. To me, he was a gentle, welcoming man of deep wisdom and quiet acceptance. I’m so thankful to God for placing him and all of you in my life and opening your home to me so many times as a young follower of Jesus. What love, what hope, what community, what sense of His presence, what expectation of His soon return! He is indeed returning soon! In the meantime, loss and separation are painful. The passing of Mr. Valletta—I still refer to him that way because I so respected him—brings all these memories back to mind and I will treasure them forever. Thank you. I miss you. I’m praying peace and comfort for all of you.

Elaine and Family,
I am so saddened to hear about Coach Frank's passing. He, as did all my other coaches at LaFayette, helped shape my life in so many ways. I will always remember him as the handsome, dark haired, soft mannered person who always got you to do what he wanted, without any yelling or threats. You just knew if he asked you to do something, OR IN MY CASE, usually asking me NOT TO DO SOMETHING....you always knew he meant it and I ceased what ever it was I was doing post-haste. I was thrilled to get a chance to talk with him at the one of the last LaFayette Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremonies, I think it was at the Syracuse Hilton. I hadn't seen him since graduating in 1965, but or chat still sticks in my mind. Gone was the dark hair, but still the friendly smile, the quiet demeanor, and the bond between student and teacher/coach remained even though we hadn't seen each other in over 50 years. I consider myself one of the most fortunate kids ever, being raised in LaFayette, having so many great friends and classmates and having a chance to know Frank Valletta........whom I will always remember fondly.
Best Regards, Mike Reman

Mr. Valletta was the first person to give me any sort of structured physical education as an elementary school kid at LaFayette in the mid-1950's. I took to it then and it has lasted a lifetime. Later, "Coach", as he used to be known to the athletes at LaFayette, was my high school baseball coach and gave me a starting role even while very young. While at baseball we weren't overly successful he certainly deserves some credit for the sports and coaches that did prosper under his watch which gave us a lot of thrills and, perhaps more importantly, allowed more kids to participate. Thank you, Coach, for all that you did for us.
