Our sincere sympathy to Shain's family. We came to know Shain when we came to Cazenovia in 1979. He was a dedicated resident and contributor to Cazenovia, known by many, respected by all. His smile and presence will be missed.

Our heart is broken. Shain/Uncle Shain how do we come to terms with saying good-bye to you. We will miss you, our talks, the hours of marathon WAR card games, weekends at the boat, the times we spent together at Mexico Beach, but most of all the laughs, smiles and love we shared. You were more than family Shain, you have always been the backbone, the sounding board, and the support system for all of us. Sending all of our love! Give Pat a Hug from us.... until we meet again. Mark, Cindi, Mitchell (Tori and Mason) and Michael Clark

Shain will be missed... He cared very deeply for the Village of Cazenovia. This was his home. He believed that you need to give back for what you receive. The whole time he lived in Caz he gave back. This is what most people would call a perfect partnership. Shain gave to the Village, to the Fire Department, to the School District, to the Church and what did he ask for in return? To belong, to be accepted and to have his wife and children accepted into the community the same as he. I think he, R. Shain Emerson, his wife Patricia E. Emerson and his eldest son William J. Emerson received what they gave to the Cazenovia community. They all were accepted into the community and the community is now a much better place for what they all gave. God bless Shain Emerson... may the Lord be with you as he is with your wife and eldest son.
You will be missed... Your brother-in-law Mark A. Clark & Family

To all the Emerson Family,
We were so saddened to hear of Shain’s passing. What a wonderful representative of the. “Old Cazenovia” as we knew it. He would always be willing to help and was a Dear Friend of our Parent’s, Tom and Winnie also. Thank you for my “zoning Board of Appeals training” Shain, you always made me feel part of the team....no matter what. You never gave up the fight. God Bless you on your journey.

Memories may fade; but friendship is everlasting. We were next-door neighbors of Pat and Shain, Michael and Billy for five years in the old Sims Lane era. It was our first house and we were so privileged to have them as our first neighbors. Condolences to the family. The DeGreniers

Shain and I served on the Village Board and the Village Board of Appeals for several years. When he and I had differences of opinion we were over them sooner or later and he was almost always right. He was a dedicated Cazenovian, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by many and even though we saw each other only occasionally the last few years, I will miss him tremendously.

I don’t know what to say to all the beautiful Emersons, my heart is broken and can’t imagine how all of yours must ache.
Shain taught me so many things from taking apart the grill and replacing the parts to fixing the boat or even organizing items in the living space of the boat. He taught me boating safety and I never left the dock without my safety check.
Stories of bridge building and laughs over drinks and dinner and dancing to a band at the Crazy Clam.
Christmas Dinners and many many more. The best teacher and mentor I have ever had the pleasure to learn from...much wisdom that I was eager to absorb...thank you Shain...It meant the world to me,I was blessed to have you in my life and Pat too.
Please tell her I love her and I love you too!!!!!
Love always,
Lisa & Vinny
