I have so many fond memories of Uncle Tom. The first time I met him, I was maybe 8 years old. I had gone on a trip to Branson, MO with Uncle Tom, Aunt Carol, my parents, and my grandparents Pete and Bev. Uncle Tom told so many jokes, let me draw pictures of him with outlandish hair styles, and let me explore the camper that he and Aunt Carol were sleeping in.
When I lived with my grandparents in AZ, Uncle Tom and Aunt Carol came to visit several times. We also visited them in NY. We spent many hours playing board and card games, listening to and laughing at more of Uncle Tom's jokes, and enjoying a variety of snacks with the collection of Uncle Tom's favorite mustards.
Uncle Tom was a lively man with a joyful spirit-always the life of the party. He will be greatly missed by the many people who loved him.

Uncle Tom was a great storyteller & I will miss laughing at his jokes. But he was also a wonderful listener. I will treasure the memories I have of times when he took the time to listen to me & talk with me about more serious things. Sending my deepest sympathy to Aunt Carol, Karen, Sandra, Brenda, & his grandchildren. He was a very special person & he will be greatly missed.

Sending so much love to Mrs. Long and Brenda. As Brenda's college roommate my memories of Mr. Long include: bad dad jokes, shorts and dark socks, real Vermont maple syrup and pancakes, deep pride and love for his daughter, and moony-eyed glances at his beloved wife. May his memory be a blessing to those whose hearts ache by his absence.

I was only able to meet Uncle Tom a few times, but he left quite an impression on me. Most recently, we were presented with the opportunity to visit he and Aunt Carol, at their home in New York, in the course of one of our travels. I loved receiving a tour of their house from Uncle Tom. He was a wonderful person! I do truly believe that one day, we will be reunited with Uncle Tom, and I look forward to that day with great anticipation. I love you Uncle Tom!

Uncle Tom was such a wonderful and kind man. I loved spending time with him whatever we were doing. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. I will greatly miss him and am glad I was able to see him last spring and hear a little bit about his childhood.

So many memories with this great guy as an uncle. He could hold everyone’s attention as he shared stories from all his fishing adventures. We always loved it when he traveled to Vermont as a stopover to his fishing trips to NH. He could one-up the best of us! We will miss his lighthearted kidding and caring manner. I envision him holding court with my Mom and grandparents as there is sure a lot to catch up on. We will miss you....

Such memories of my brother in law, Tom. Lots of visits back and forth from AZ to NY. Timeshares with the 4 of us. Fishing in OR, CO, AR, MO with Pete while Carol and I hit the quilt shops. Cruises. Always ready with a joke that when he started out, you thought he had a serious thing to tell you and it ended up with a punch line. And several of them were so good that he repeated them! Often! Such a caring person. Would do anything for anyone. He will be greatly missed by so many people. His legacy is in his 3 wonderful daughters, 5 grands, and 3 great grands. Happy fishing, Tom.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family at this difficult time and assure them our prayers are with them.

Carol and Family…
Where do I begin? Oh! The memories!!
Tom was a very influential part of my life. He was more than a friend. He was like a brother and, at times, a mentor. We shared many thoughts, opinions, and humorous stories. He shared his efforts with the Cazenovia Lions Club and helped keep us in touch with Syracuse University Football and Basketball.
Tom always seemed to think of what he could do for others. As a teacher I remember him giving up his lunch time to help students. I’m certain that he devoted his time as a Principal to provide the best education for his students.
His love and respect for his family were constantly exhibited in our conversations. He enjoyed telling us about how his children and grandchildren were doing. I think fondly of his planning and building the garage to the house on 6th St. in Camden; of the numerous fly-fishing tales and trips; of his competitiveness as a softball teammate; and of his love of scrapple at Diner 22.
We will miss him while at the same time seeking to follow his example!
God bless you Tom Long and thank you for being a part of our lives.

Carol and family,
Tom and you are in my thoughts and prayers. He was a good principal to work with when I was at Cazenovia Central Schools. Always the consummate gentleman, Tom would bring laughter to our administrator meetings and kept things focused, but light. I know he loved you all and spoke of you often. I’m sure he enjoyed his retirement to the fullest and got in lots of fishing!

To Tom's family -
I am so sorry to hear that Tom has left us. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him as he negotiated on behalf of our administrators at Jordan Elbridge when I served as Superintendent. I always enjoyed our talks and he was a trusted and fair negotiator. I know he made a huge impact on many lives and leaves a strong, honorable legacy.

Carol, Karen, Sandra, and Brenda … we extend our sincere sympathy in the loss of your husband and father -- and our friend. Tom befriended us when we came to Camden in 1972. He was my mentor in the math department at CHS and showed me the professionalism and leadership I would need as I followed him as department chairperson. We share your loss and know that his memory will be forever a part of our lives. God bless you and your families. George and Marilyn Stoughton

It saddens my heart to hear of Tom's passing. He was such an asset for so many years, for so many students, and tons of parents of students at Cazenovia High School. Tom knew me by my married name [Overend] and he'd actually "wince" if he saw me headed to the office to see him. HA! We shared many stories together and loved the advice he gave me when it was needed and received with heart felt thanks from this very discouraged parent at the time. He knew how to get to the kids, and the kids adored him. He was one of a kind and I think of him often even years after I've moved from Caz. RIP sweet man, you've done so much and made such an impact on everyone's life that you touched. My very sincerest condolences to Carol and the family for your loss. Relive the memories of Tom often so that the grands & great-grands can keep this man's accomplishments, stories, and life lessons alive for us all.
