So sorry to hear of Owens passing. I worked for the Gilmore’s for a few years cleaning their home. They were both the sweetest people to work for. Their sons were wonderful also. I used my wages to buy unfinished furniture. Some of it I still have. I cherish my memories of those days. Condolences to their family.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Owen Gilmore. I knew him from my many visits at Johnny Appleseed. I remember him as a tall, handsome and truly classy gentleman, often in the company of his lovely wife, Florence. Even after sort of retiring, he and Florence were often at the store, taking an interest in the goings on and conversing with visitors. They were always pleasant and gracious with visitors. I always recognized what an exceptional business, and showroom they had created...showroom not quite the right word but closest I can come. Visiting there was a wondrous experience, actually mini-vacation, and even if not in market for furniture, there was always some wonderful small item to purchase, even if just a bar of soap or some candy, and be able to come away inspired. In reading Owen's obituary I have an even greater appreciation of his journey and legacy. Condolences to Florence and family.

I was always welcomed by the Gilmore family with open arms as a teenager without reservation. The warmth of their family has always remained with me as a model. My condolences go out to the whole family. This has been a tough year. I remember our first trip to Johnny Appleseed Furniture.....met this kind pleasant and handsome Gentleman, and his amazing energetic wife Florence. They made us feel special.
