Please share a memory of Jeanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The LORD has done great things for us, and we rejoiced – Psalm 126:3
Jeanne H. Glass passed away on December 10, 2020 while in the loving care of her adopted family at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, New York. Jeanne was born on March 29, 1925, the only child of Victor and Viola Hagerman and she called Buffalo, NY her home for 52 years. She attended Bennett High School and the University of Buffalo where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. While at UB, Jeanne thoroughly enjoyed her job at the Norton Student Union coordinating student and alumni activities and being a member of the women’s field hockey team.
Until 1946, Jeanne was a loyal and loving member of her small but mighty nuclear family. She met the love of her life, Robert Galen Glass, who was attending UB on the GI bill and they were married on September 12, 1947. They expanded their family to include four children, Cathy (Doug) Bury, Bob (Maggie) Glass, Doug (Nell) Glass and Jeff (Helen) Glass. Jeanne was a strong and devoted caretaker and her family was her world. Jeanne invited her mother Viola and grandmother Anna to live with the brood while raising active children and overseeing the care of her in-laws. Jeanne was in her glory surrounded by the bustle and noise of her loved ones.
In 1977, Bob accepted a job in Central NY and they relocated to Cazenovia, NY. Jeanne was an active member of Alice Edwards Circle and raised funds for Cazenovia Presbyterian Church. She also worked at the Cheshire Cat gift shop and made sure the Willowbank Yacht Club’s geraniums were hydrated and healthy. Jeanne was a constant guiding presence for her eight grandchildren: Matt Bury; Meg (Brent) Marquart; Andrew (Alicia) Bury; Mariah Glass; Tucker Glass; Rob Glass; Sarah-Kate Glass; and Andrew Glass and she rejoiced in her seven great-grandchildren. From her beginnings as a single child, Jeanne built a family legacy that continues to embrace and live out her values of unconditional love, faithfulness, strength and fighting spirit. Jeanne is predeceased by her husband, Bob and son, Doug.
A memorial service for Jeanne will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 12, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church of Cazenovia. The Glass family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church following the services. Jeanne passed during Advent, her favorite time of year. Please keep her in your hearts and minds and remember to pray for Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeanne’s memory may be made to Crouse Community Center, 101 South St., Morrisville, NY 13408 or Cazenovia Presbyterian Church, 27 Albany St., Cazenovia, NY 13035.
