Helen Mason, 93, of Cazenovia, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville. She was born July 27, 1927 in Madison, Wisconsin, the youngest of eight children to Charles and Clara Hansen Winkler. Helen was a graduate of Morrisville High School in 1945. Prior to being employed by Madison County Health Department as a nurse’s aide, she had been an employee of the General Electric Company for eight years. Her final years of employment were dedicated to private duty nursing. She also accumulated 20 years of service on the Madison County Board of Elections. Helen was a kind and caring person; when she was not serving others, she enjoyed cross stitching, crocheting, reading, completing puzzles and watching the NY Yankees. Helen enjoyed playing cards with her friend, Nancy Davis and visiting with her friend, Bruce McMorris. Helen especially enjoyed Sunday car rides exploring the countryside with her husband, Hank.
She is survived by her three sons, Larry Harrington of California, Terry (Jan) Harrington of Florida and Gary (Dena) Mason of Cazenovia; son-in-law, Peter Craig of England; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and seven siblings, Helen was predeceased by her husband, Henry Mason in 1989; her daughter, Sandra Craig and by her grandson, Corey Bogue.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Rd., Cazenovia. Calling hours are 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Welsh Union Cemetery. Contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the Nelson United Methodist Church, 23 Lincklaen St., Cazenovia, NY 13035.
