I am so sad to hear of Mr. Loomis’passing , I never had the pleasure of him as my teacher in high school but I know my brother spent a lot of time in all sports with him. What a wonderful legacy he leaves and may all your precious memories comfort the family for years to come. Sincerely , Nancy Mulcahey❤️

I still hold fond memories of Richard and Claudia teaching square dancing to me as a senior at Madison Central in 1973. May he continue to gather everyone around for a dance in heaven where I am sure he will find some of the other square dancers from that era.

From the time I met Richard — I knew I had a friend! And together with Claudia — a special relationship. Together we watched, analyzed & discussed Andrew’s Track races. And then, just life in general…farming, gardening, etc. His “down home” humor is what struck me so. My best wishes to Claudia, Jamie & Eric and their Family, and especially to Andrew who so cared to make his grandfather proud of him. /DAN BUDDIE

Bob Rouse, Meredeth and I were blessed by Dick Loomis's skill, spirit and friendship. He, his younger brother and his
educator-colleagues worked for several summers renovating our farmhouse on Rt. 20. Those were seasons of
challenge, ingenuity and shared laughter among us. The memories are priceless.
The presence of Dick Loomis in our lives is a gift.

The name Loomis and North Pitcher caught my eye. Then reading of the respect, work ethic and obvious love that your loved one engendered it has moved me to write. My grandfather also was a North Pitcher boy. Always calling it "down home" even after living elsewhere for over 70 years. He was a farmer also. With a work ethic that has, thankfully run through to me. While a young man in North Pitcher he worked for a Mr. Loomis at the cheese factory fondly reminiscing about it many times. I am so sorry for the sadness the loss of this Mr. Loomis brings to you. But I will go forward today with a diligent, thankful outlook thinking of these sons of North Pitcher that gave us so much.

He was a fellow classmate and good friend, at South Otselic.
We loved playing Basketball as a team with him.
I always knew he would be a good husband, father, and role model for everyone.
To all of you that knew him you know how fortunate you were.

The one thing I will remember the most about Coach was that he always had a smile on his face. It's been 40 years but I can clearly see him walking toward me in the hallway of the school grinning from ear to ear. I'm thinking of his family, friends and everyone who was lucky enough to have known him. R.I.P. Coach.

Today is a very sad day for me because I learned of the passing of one of my former teachers and mentors. Mr. Loomis was my football coach and physical education teacher in the 1960s. To me he was one of the best role models I had as a young man growing up in Morrisville. He was a man of integrity, a man of values, a great husband and father. I have so many fond memories of his leadership growing up. He set examples for all of us to follow. He was a hard worker and dedicated to his job. He knew how to teach and had high expectations for all of his students. I rarely remember him missing days of school. He had no respect for those who did not do their jobs. Later, when I got the opportunity to coach football with him, he became my mentor. After retirement I marveled at this work ethic on the farm. I know of very few people who could work as hard as he did. Claudia and Richard Loomis were both dedicated to the young people of MECS and together they were a couple for all of us to admire. Richard and Claudia had moral fiber. Sandy and I offer our sincere condolences to the family and you should know how much your dad was admired. May he rest in peace.

Mr Loomis took me up to Syracuse once for bench pressing 300 lbs. He brought me there in his old beat up green station wagon for a nice steak dinner. I'm sure everyone remembers it. RIP you will always be remembered. Greg Hagmann

Warren and I have such fond memories of Dick. He built our home in summer of 1982. Every where we look we can see a little bit of Dick. I worked with him at Morrisville-Eaton also, such a fund and enjoyable person to work with. Our children have wonderful memories of Mr.Loomis as a P.E. teacher and coach. God has welcomed a wonderful man in to heaven.
Our thoughts and prayers to all of his family.
God Bless all of you!

Claudia and family, Dave, Kai and family… I remember Richard as being a hard working man. I remember him teaching and coaching during the school year and then he and Dave (and probably numerous others) building structures of various types throughout the summer between semesters. He worked hard and seemed to keep moving with tireless effort. I remember him as being kind, well known and well thought of. On one of my many visits back home, Kai and Dave took us to the sugar house he’d built. It was pretty impressive to see the technology and automation. It was top notch. No more stoking the fire with wood and watching the sap boil as we used to do with our fathers and grandfather. Funny, what we associate with people we know, and how we remember them. Richard lived with purpose and made an impact on many lives. He will be dearly missed. He left a wonderful legacy in his beautiful family as they continue their path in this journey called life. My condolences and heartfelt sympathies to each of you and all of the Loomis family. May you feel the comfort of God’s peace as you walk through this time of sadness. Karol Wood

Coach Loomis was my teacher/mentor at MECS. He was magnetic, combining raw passion, humor, and a firm unwavering approach. I wanted to be around him, and I didn't want to disappoint him. He taught me so many values, like transparency, authenticity, focus, and respect to name a few. For many years I too was an educator and his approach rubbed off on me. I never lowered the bar with students, I raised them, and it worked. You were loved by all Coach, and made a huge impact on everyone. Thank you. My condolences to his family.
