Obituary of Elizabeth McGee

Elizabeth “Betsy” McGee, 74, of Victor, passed away peacefully Thursday morning at Crouse Community Center in Morrisville, New York. She was born in Westfield, New Jersey, one of four children to the late Howard and Johnette Goff. Betsy was a graduate of Westfield High School and Wittenberg University. She was employed as a Social Worker by the State of New York from 1979 until her retirement 10 years ago.
She will be remembered for adoring her grandchildren, her great sense of humor, and her appreciation for music. Betsy was devoted to serving in her community. She volunteered with Advent House Hospice for over 20 years, sang with several community choruses in the Rochester area for 35 years, most recently with the Genesee Valley Orchestra & Chorus (GVOC), was a member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, and a member of the Rochester Knitting Guild.
She is survived by her three children, James Sylvana of Austin, TX, Jennifer McGee (Alexander Karn) of Cazenovia, NY and Thomas McGee (Meaghan Thomas) of Chicago, IL; two sisters, Martha Goff of Rahway, NJ and Kathryn (Breck) Kent of High Bridge, NJ; one brother, Bruce (Kathy) Goff of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Celeste Sylvana, Beatrix Karn, and Sylvie Karn, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Rd., Pittsford, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betsy’s memory may be made to the Advent House, 1010 Moseley Rd., Fairport, NY 14450.
